Student Parent Space is OPEN!
Come and check out the new Student Parent Space in the University House Annex (155 Shields Ave), between the Native Nest and Voorhies Hall!
Students who visit the space during the month of March will be entered into a drawing for a $25 Aggie Cash Card to use at the Dining Commons and on-campus eateries (CoHo, Peets, food trucks, etc.).
The Student Parent Space (SPS) is open these hours beginning March 2, 2026:
- Mondays & Wednesdays: 1-6pm
- Tuesdays & Thursdays: 10am-5pm
- Fridays: 11am-1pm
Finals Week (3/16-3/20)
- Monday-Friday: 11am-1pm
The SPS is set up for parents to study/relax on their own or with their children, breastfeed, change diapers, enjoy/prepare a snack, and meet other student parents. Note that parents must stay in the SPS when their children are present - it is not a childcare center or drop off/pick up operation.
The SPS offers these resources:
- Toys, games, and books for ages 0-14
- Private bathroom with changing table
- Kitchenette with fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and sink
- Private office for breastfeeding, studying, Zoom meetings
- Undergraduate student interns and volunteers to answer questions and interact with children
- Snacks and pantry food items
- Toy giveaways
- Space for communal studying and socializing
- TV and DVDs (children’s movies)
- Mugs and kids utensils/cups/plates to use (please wash afterwards!)
- Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and oatmeal
In the future we hope to have office hours with campus and community partners, as well as a regular series of programs.
Thanks to everyone who donated to support the SPS including the Yolo County Children’s Alliance, Elizabeth Sturdy, Jill Hosseini, Pamela Reynolds, Carol LaPerle, Jane Heinig, Kevin Cruz, Mona Monfared, Pallavi Shimoda, Jane Liu, Jenn Krebsbach, Kelli Sholer, and breidi roberts.
