Favorite course: HDE 100 series with Professor Anistranski

Most rewarding aspect of being a student parent: sharing study time with my boys and doing homework when they are.

Most challenging aspect of being a student parent: At times I have to ask to complete assignments at a later time or attend extra office hours in order to get information I may have missed due to attending to their needs.

Reflections on the experience: My children are my reasons for returning to school. I want to show them that anything is possible and to never give up. My husband has taken on the responsibility of caring for the entire family financially so that I do not have to work while attending school, so he makes it very easy on me. I know not everyone has this assistance, so I am extremely grateful for him.

My oldest son wants to attend UC Davis when he gets older and as much as I would love that, I would also like for him to explore his options and go to the best university for him. He constantly talks about going to college and it makes me feel like I am doing something right.

Advice for other student parents: Do not stress and know that you have a whole community to support you here at UC Davis. Become involved, get to know your fellow students, both with and without children, and don't be afraid to ask questions. When you find your community at Davis, it makes a world of a difference.
